The Maturity Matrix is on the front line of these resources, providing unparalleled support for businesses to assess and benchmark their journey in progressing the Ethnicity Agenda.
What is the Maturity Matrix?
The Matrix is a free tool that asks a series of questions about the organisation’s business practices.

The Matrix uses the answers to these questions to score and rate the organisation’s current standing. By completing the checklist, organisations are also given bespoke, practical, and easy to follow suggestions on how to improve the organisation’s inclusion efforts. This is done through a points scoring system based on a checklist you fill out about your organisation’s current ethnicity work. Please note that organisations don’t need to complete every point to receive a high level of accreditation. We are looking for organisations that have a strong informed strategy, and are completing and embedding key points effectively and creating progress.
The Maturity Matrix also gives us insight into how different industries are performing in DEI. It is a tool to also gather best practice and data on where organisations are focusing their DEI strategies.

The Maturity Matrix has four levels of accreditation based on the total number of points scored. Some points are required to have been completed to achieve a certain level.
Organisations do not need to complete every point to receive a high level of accreditation. We are looking for organisations that have a strong informed strategy, and are completing and embedding key points effectively and creating progress.
Ethnicity Awards: Outstanding Employer 2024
If organisations choose to opt in, the 10 organisations that are leading the way in completion of the Matrix and can demonstrate sustainable impact through implementation of the recommendations will be nominated for Outstanding Employer at the Ethnicity Awards 2024.
The final winner will be determined through interviewing and spot checking evidence, and announced at the Ethnicity Awards 2024
